Community organisations can now bid for additional funding to deliver violence reduction activities in three specific wards in Hartlepool and Stockton.
The Cleveland Unit for the Reduction of Violence – or CURV – has made £60,000 available for local charitable or voluntary, community organisations.
The target areas for this work include the Ropner Ward of Stockton (formerly Oxbridge and Parkfield ward) and the Burn Valley and Manor House wards of Hartlepool.
Applicants will be expected to explain how their project will help to reduce the impact of violent crime in these communities.
Applications will be open until noon on Wednesday 20 December 2023, with all successful applicants informed before close of play on Friday 22 December 2023.
The delivery period runs from Monday 8 January to Sunday 31 March 2024.
Head of CURV, John Holden, said: “We’re delighted to be able to offer additional funding to local charities or community groups who want to join our cause to reduce violent crime across Cleveland.
“This investment enhances the existing financial support we’ve provided in the Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland areas, to give a Cleveland-wide approach to violence reduction.
“Many community groups are already working with those at-risk of becoming involved in crime or violence – and this funding is a great opportunity to build on their good work.”
